Introduction

Hi, my name is Kyla Dickey and I chose to take film class this semester because it sounded interesting, and since it s a college class I can earn college credits. I hope to gain knowledge about how actually works  behind the scenes, and possibly be able to notice these things that I learn while watching other films in the future. Something about me is that I love Disney movies, specifically older princess movies, they have always had a special place in my in my heart ever since I was little and always will. My all time favorite Disney movies are “Tangled” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. Aside from Disney movies, my favorite movie is “Split” it is such an interesting film with many plot twists, and the story is also continued into another very interesting movie. Another film that I like is “Miracles from Heaven”, this film has changed my perspective on the world, and the good and bad things that happen. It has helped me see that everything happens for a reason, and that everything is in the hands of God. I am excited to watch and analyze the films on our course list, and hope to learn a lot this semester.

“Everything Everywhere All At Once”

 In the film “Everything Everywhere All At Once” many different elements that are the reality of many people’s lives. It explores cultural identity’s, gender roles, mental health, and more. All of the themes in this film were very important and held a lot of symbolism. There is a huge amount of deep meaning inside of a film full of other dimensions and ‘what if’s’.      The film dives into cultural identity, it shows the struggle of an immigrant family balancing traditional values of the modern American family, like two different worlds going on at once. It explores gender roles with stereotypes, especially by showing the expectations for woman, who they are told they should be with, and the complexity behind this. “Se7en”

      When viewing the film Seven, I realized how far ahead of time the director thinks in order to create a masterpiece. Every little detail in the film is connected and hints to the next. The film has structure, conflicts, repetition, cues, and a lot of symbolism to get to the bigger picture.      In the film, the big climax moment occurs within the last 10 minutes, which is unlike other films that I have seen. The quote “what’s in the box” from detective Mills is the highest most suspenseful scene in the whole film. The film is based upon Somerset's last week on the job and in the city that they live in, while it is Mills first in a new city. Somerset is an older very calm understanding and well experienced detective who is set to work with Mills, a young hothead detective, on his last week.
